Remembering Carli

Carli in the Grass

For Carli

You walked into my life
One early spring day
Your beauty and sweetness
Took my breath away

Three eight week old puppies
Played in the grass alone
You pick me to love
Asking “please take me home”

We spent the afternoon
Getting to know each other
Your sweet brown eyes
Won my heart over

Our friendship grew more deeply
As the seasons and years passed by
We were always together
You and me, the love of my life

We walked the red road together
Sixteen years side by side
You taught me the most important lessons
You opened my heart up to live life

We shared a special connection
We grew up together with the years
Then came the time to let you go
I’ve cried a river of tears

Your gift of choosing me
Has enriched and blessed my life
My gift to you is freedom
Letting go of your physical life

I see you in my arms
Flying high together we soar
Your light fills up the sky
From Mother Earth and Mother Shore

Your presence is still with me
As I move along my path
Sometimes I look over and see you
I have to catch my breath

Even though I‘ll never taste your sweetness
Or my arms feel you near
My heart will always hold you
My beautiful and precious Carli dear

Ann,what a beautiful poem. We love our furry babies so much and in turn they give us unconditional and faithful love. What a lovely memorial.

    • Hi Terry,
They certainly do. She was my first and we had 16 and half years together. My tears from her loss didn’t stop until Zeta arrived almost a year after Carli’s passing. She is a rescue dog, we rescued each other!

  2. Miss you Carli!

  3. Thanks Meri, she will always hold a very special place in my heart.

  5. My heart goes out to you Theresa during this time. These little ones bring so much love and joy into our loves. When they are gone they leave such a huge emptiness. I know Max is a very special part of your family and your life.
